At 2AM

At 2AM…

…When the cake is finally done; when my kitchen is in shambles; when I’ve been standing way too long and gravity seems to have pulled me 2 feet into the floor; I’ll be honest, I wonder why I do this.

At 3:30AM, when I’ve successfully put my kitchen back together and my eye lids weigh 20 pounds from sleep deprivation, I still wonder why I do this.

When I realize I spent more on materials than what I charged because I went overboard on an idea (most cases), I wonder why I do this.

But then…

I open that refrigerator to take another look at the art created the night before. Before I box her up and send her off to her owner, I invite Eden to come over and see the final result. She says with such amazement, “Mom, I love it! Great job!.” I start to say to myself, “I think I know why I do this.”

When the cake is delivered, and I get to witness the pure joy the owner received from it—something as simple as a cake—I know now. This is why I do this.

Creating homemade happiness is not easy but at the end of it all…I Love This! ❤️🐛🦋
