Baking is Life

Most of my Sundays are spent baking; I’m awake before the sun, and often, long after it returns to sleep. My body is exhausted by the end of it but mentally I couldn’t feel more rejuvenated.

“Alexa, play Frank Sinatra station.” That’s how it starts! The station usually kicks off with my favorite song, Fly Me To The Moon, and continues with other artist from the era like Peggy Lee, Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr., and more Frank Sinatra classics! The station takes me back to my childhood; I used to spend my afternoons listening to music with my Grandfather, who was a collector of these artist’s great works, and a lover of music. The peace that this gives me is hard to articulate, but if I had to attempt it…I’d simply say that it’s soul satisfying.

The miniature pastry chef lives the good life. She often sleeps in, so I’m on my own for at least a few hours while I prepare our breakfast, or start orders scheduled for the following day. Its nice though to have this little bit of time all to myself. No time constraints. No pressure. Just the freedom to tap into my creativity and “fly to the moon”!

Baking is hard work. The hours are not so awesome (noted above); Its kind of messy (sprinkles flour on apron for affect ); but it never feels like work to me. When I bake I feel such a positive air. Baking with my little one is a bonus, like strawberry buttercream on a beautiful cake! ♥

I love it! For me, baking is life! I think everyone should engage in a profession, activity, or hobby that gives them license to feel great! Remember, happiness is homemade. ♥
