Baking Saves the Day!

Life has been strange as of late with the world fully engaged in social distancing. While it seems that the whole family is starting to adjust to the new normal, there is still much strain on everyday life. With good intentions I have made schedules for everyone. It accounts for class Zoom meetings, enrichment activities, exercise, meals and even some free time. It seemed to be  working well, until Eden surprised me with, “Mom, can I rest today?” Just then I realized that I neglected to consider how all this change is impacting our tiny humans.

So, we took a break. In fact, Eden wanted to produce her own baking show where she taught everyone how to make her cute marshmallow treats. I helped her grab all of the ingredients, then stepped aside and let her do it all by herself while I recorded the cutest baking show ever!

It was the sweetest of treats! She topped these Marshmallow pops with M&Ms, chocolate, and a variety of sprinkles. Things got a little messy and she ended up dripping some chocolate on the cuff of her shirt. The cutest thing is when she mumbled while cleaning off her shirt, “That’s what happens to bakers.” Eden said she wants to do more of her own projects. Confidence? Check! ✔️ ❤️

We both needed this break. It’s been difficult to maintain equilibrium between work and fun now that they are exclusively being done in the same place. I admit that I got sucked in by the pressure to ensure myself and family exceed normal productivity standards while working from home. So glad that once again, baking saves the day! ❤️
