Fall of Energy

What things give you energy?

A quiet house on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The only sounds to be heard are the sounds of the cookies and graham crackers being gently crushed, freshly baked sweet potatoes being mashed, and the whipping sounds of cream cream cheese in the mixer. Me, in my kitchen without distraction, without a time constraint—space to create something delectable.

As I peer out my kitchen window, I can see the rain drops multiply. The green, red, and yellow leaves become more vibrant with every touch of rain. It’s such a satisfying scene. As I admire this beautiful Fall day, the smells of cinnamon and ginger make their way to me at the window. The perfect backdrop for this moment.

These are the things that give me energy. In my space I have room to pause, room to create, room to appreciate the beauty all around me.

Later on everyone will be here enjoying what I’ve made. This gives me energy as well, but it’s a different type of energy. It’s one that both gives and takes. What kinds of things give you energy?
