Never Too Old For Fairytales

Baking up magical creatures, playing pretend, living only within the limits of the imagination, and giggling through it all; this is what childhood is all about. I was recently re-introduced to my inner child and the world of play through the courtesy of my children. All of the extra time we’ve been spending together has taught me that we’re never too old to indulge in fairytales.❤️

Quarantine has certainly been difficult, but in many ways it has afforded me time with my family that could have been lost in the grind of everyday life. Since this whole thing began I’ve helped slay dragons, built rocket ships, catered tea parties, found magical unicorns, and I have been crowned Queen of the house—all of this, daily. We have done way more than we could ever fit into a weekend to include our baking activities.

Eden and I had an order for a delicious vanilla cake draped in strawberries and filled with strawberry and cream cheese frosting. Sounds good right? It did to us too! So instead of painting pictures, as planned for the afternoon, we made a small version of the cake for her to decorate any way she wanted. She’s learning how to apply and smooth out the icing from the icing bag shown above.  I’m so proud of her progress.

She chose to turn this 6 inch, 2 layer cake into her favorite magical creature, using strawberries for the unicorn’s horn. Such a clever design! And the cake was delicious! I expect nothing less when it’s made with love!
